Receiving payments is easy. We provide a light integration API which involves nothing more than copying and pasting some JavaScript. For the technically inclined, we provide postbacks and Web Service APIs to let you tightly integrate your store with Noca. Either way, you can access all your payment records at our secure Merchant Portal.

What Is Noca?

Noca is a secure payment solution for online merchants that drastically simplifies accepting payments online. It offers a way for Merchants to get started right away to accept payments on their website by providing an iframe based mechanism such that no cardholder data or payment information touches the Merchant’s servers, hence removing the need for PCI compliance. Furthermore (up to a certain annual limit ) a Merchant Account is not required and hence reducing the time to start accepting payments tremendously. Further Noca reduces online transaction costs by offering a lower cost Check payment system in addition to traditional Credit Cards.

Why Do I Need Noca?

Traditional processors require Merchants to (a) Setup a Merchant Account and (b) Get PCI compliance before being able to process payments. Both of these are excessive burdens from a time and money standpoint. With Noca you can get started right away. The second reason is cost of processing payments. Merchant are currently paying too much in payment processing fees. The total fees end up being well higher than 3% when one includes the “one-off” charges including but not limited to per transaction fees, AVV fees, PCI compliance fees etc. Noca has a new payment processing network that provides end-to-end payment settlement for a simple percentage fee per transaction – the way payment processing should be. We do not have intermediaries in our system, and with our highly efficient network we can deliver substantial cost benefits. We believe that by offering a choice of payment systems and a simple fee structure we can provide significantly differentiated service. Its in our name NOCA stands for No Other Charges Apply.

How Does It Work?

Noca provides a simple interface that integrates with the merchant’s online system. The merchant re-routes payment requests through Noca, and Noca renders a form where the consumer chooses the payment type and enters the payment information.  The merchant receives monies in 2-3 business days in its bank account through an ACH transaction.

Will Customers Use the System?

Noca is easier for customers to use than any other online payment system. Our service is seamlessly integrated into your website via a platform independent API using an iframe or overlay window, so the customer never leaves your site. From the customer’s perspective, there is no signup or redirection away from the Merchant site.

What About Security?

In addition to using state-of-the-art electronic transaction encryption, Noca also implements fraud detection algorithms based on customer data. Instead of using a credit card number for authentication, our payment system authenticates individual customers and evaluates fraud risk based on an aggregated score of customer behavior using different metrics.

    Can you explain your rates ?

    We currently charge 1.49% (or less, see our rates page for volume discounts ) for checks and 2.99% (see our rates page for volume discounts) for credit cards. We are a lean company that is focused on building the best product at the lowest possible price. We are not charging a huge buffer over what it costs us and hence the lower costs. We plan to make money on both volume as well as value-add s ervices we plan to provide in future. The question we are most often asked is if we don't charge a transaction fee do we have a minimum transaction amount ? We do. Its $2.00 currently i.e. we do not accept transactions less than $2.00. The bigger picture is our average transaction size will be high enough such that we can do without a fixed fee per transactions. We are doing this without compromising on security or quality.

    Is the system secure ?

    Yes, very much so. Noca provides end-to-end encryption and has stringent safeguards to guard against data breaches. All data is stored at a secure, off-site data center that is Payment Card Industry (PCI) compliant. All data is encrypted in transit. Access to Noca servers in the data center is using encrypted network channels and with strict access control policies. We are a team of industry stalwarts with a background in Payments industry who understand and value security.

    Is fraud an issue if other people have one of my checks with the numbers at the bottom?

    No. We do not process Check transactions unless the account owner verifies the account. Even if you give your account number to someone else unless they break-in to your account or otherwise have access there is not much they can do. Also the Merchant does not store consumer's financial data (i.e. checking and routing number ) - they are encrypted and passed on to Noca which stores it securely. See # 2 for details on how we securely store data.

    How long does it take for the funds to clear ?

    3rd business day for Secure Checks and the next business day for Visa/Mastercard. However, we are working on clearing checks the next business day in our next release.

    What happens if the checking account doesn't have sufficient funds?

    If there are insufficient funds, the amount will not clear and the merchant is automatically notified by email. The Merchant can resubmit the transaction or pursue collection themselves. Currently Noca does not provide collection services. We are however in process of releasing "Guaranteed ACH" which will obviate NSF issues - watch out for the announcement in our next release.

    Given there is no per transaction fee is there a minimum transaction size?

    Yes. The minimum transaction size is $2.00. Given our transaction volume we believe we can do relatively small size transactions without a per transaction fee given our average is going to be industry average.
